Since that time they have been dedicated to rescuing animals in need and educating the public about being responsible stewards for our four-legged friends. Following an incident involving feral kittens being unnecessarily shot in North Ridgeville in 2013, Friendship APL made the commitment to help with community cats in North Ridgeville. A year later, the staff and volunteers began a partnership with the city of Elyria. Between the two cities, they have trapped over 1,000 community cats and either returned them to field or placed them for adoption. They have a goal to expand this program to the rest of Lorain County by 2020.
